Card games can be amazing learning tools and incredibly fun to play with your friends and family.
Ever think you could design your own card game?
In the Build The Next Great Card-Based Learning Game competition, sponsored by Gamewright, students from around the world will compete to help design the next great card-based learning game.
About the Competition
Students can work by themselves or in a team of 2 people to submit their idea for a card-based game to help teach any science or math topic of their choice.
You will not be required to physically build the game. You just need to describe the game and provide instructions for how it’s played and what it teaches.
The purpose of the competition is to have fun and be creative. Brainstorming and completion of the design document should take somewhere between two (2) to five (5) hours.
Feel free to check out some of the amazing card-based games made by Gamewright for inspiration: https://
Students will put forth their best ideas and a panel of judges will pick twelve (12) winners. Ten (10) runners up will each receive $50 prize packs of Gamewright products.
Two (2) grand prize winners will each receive $100 prize packs plus an opportunity to meet with the Gamewright team, discuss their vision for the game, and learn about the game design process.

Gamewright was founded in 1994 by four parents whose kids wanted great games. From the start, our mission has remained clear: Create the highest quality family games with outstanding play-value. Guided by themes and experiences that transcend age and salted with a bit of irreverence, our games are designed to foster laughter, learning, friendship, and fun.
Over the years our family has grown to over 200 games, including such household hits as Slamwich, Rat-a-Tat Cat, Sleeping Queens, Sushi Go!, Qwixx, and Forbidden Island. The thousands of letters we receive from kids, parents, grandparents, and teachers tell us our hearts are in the right place. Thank you for inviting us into your home and for playing with Gamewright!
