Absolute value is the distance from 0. Absolute value cannot be negative because it is a distance and distance cannot be negative. Absolute value is denoted as |x| where x is the distance from 0 on the number line. Both |x| and |-x| have the same absolute value because they are opposites and equidistant from 0. Use absolute value in multiple real-world contexts to show the magnitude of negatives.
