Algebraic Expressions using Distributive Property Math Games

5 games

In this series of games, your students will learn to solve linear equations with rational number coefficients. The Algebraic Expressions using Distributive Property learning objective — based on CCSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research. This learning objective directly references 8.EE.C.7.b as written in the common core national math standards.

Concepts Covered

Solve equations with rational number coefficients that do not require expanding. Solve equations where the same variable is on both sides of the equation by manipulating the equation to combine the like terms of the same variable. Like terms can be combined only if they have the same variable representing the same quantity and they are raised to the same power.

Add and subtract the coefficients when combining like terms. Like terms on one side of the equation should be combined before manipulating the equation to move terms to the opposite side of the “=”. Use the distributive property to combine like terms.
