Number Lines to Rationalize Inequalities Math Games

5 games

In this series of games, your students will learn how to interpret statements of inequality as statements about the relative position of two numbers on a number line diagram. The Number Lines to Rationalize Inequalities learning objective — based on CCSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research. This learning objective directly references 6.NS.C.7.a as written in the common core national math standards.

Concepts Covered

When ordering negative numbers, the closer to 0 a number is, the greater its value. In general, the value of numbers increases as they go right on the number line and decrease as they go left. Numbers can be compared for value by their relative position. Negative numbers larger in magnitude are of lesser value and therefore further left of 0 on a number line.

Interpret statements used in real-world context as placement on the number line where the negative number with a greater magnitude is placed further left on the number line.
