An expression is a phrase in a sentence about a mathematical or real-world situation. Represent repeated multiplication of the same number as an exponent. Express area of a square as side^2. Write expressions to model situations where exponents are generated through repeated multiplication. Represent and evaluate rational numbers with simple fractions and decimals raised to whole number powers.
