Concepts Covered

Fractions with a denominator of 10 or 100 are called decimal fractions. Decimal fractions can be converted into decimal notation by using the denominator to indicate where the decimal will be for the numerator. The number of digits to the right of the decimal point indicates the number of zeros in the denominator. Use knowledge of equivalent fractions to show that numbers with the same value expressed as tenths and hundredths are equivalent by converting tenths to hundredths. Compare decimals using the meaning of a decimal as a fraction, making sure to compare fractions with the same denominator.
