Equal and Opposite Reactions: Newton’s Third Law Science Games

In this series of games, your students will learn about equal and opposite forces. The Equal and Opposite Reactions: Newton’s Third Law learning objective — based on NGSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research.

Concepts Covered

A force is a push or a pull acting on an object. It is a vector quantity, which means it has both a magnitude and a direction. Newton’s Third Law states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. This means forces always act in pairs. These paired forces are known as action-reaction forces.

In total, there are nine games in this learning objective, including:

  • Boing: Newton’s Third Law
  • Blueprint Bash: Newton’s 3rd Law
  • What’s Your Reaction?
  • Push Heroes?
  • Platformer – Newton’s Third Law Challenge
  • The Claw: Newton’s Third Law
  • Newtonian Octopus
  • The 3rd Law
  • AstroLab – Moonwalker
