Concepts Covered

Molecules consist of multiple atoms chemically bonded together. They can consist of one type of atom or many. Some molecules are long with repeating units. A molecule that contains more than one type of atom is a compound.

There are only a certain number of elements that exist on Earth, but they can bond in endless combinations to create different compounds. A molecule’s chemical formula communicates the ratio of different atoms in a molecule.
