Concepts Covered

Solve multiplication or division problems within 100 with factors less than 10. Split quantities into equal groups (whole number quotients only). Quantities split into equal groups will not have a quantity remaining (remainder). There must be equal groups to multiply; unequal groups cannot be multiplied. Use multiplication to find the area in real-world context.

Use arrays with sides known to find the total. Use arrays with known total and one side is known to find the unknown side. Solve problems to find equal groups. Use a symbol for the unknown factor, product, or quotient. Solve multiplication and division word problems by using drawings with an unknown quantity represented by a symbol. Divide the area of an array by a side to find an unknown side.
