Understand Compound Probability Math Games

3 games

In this series of games, your students will learn that, just as with simple events, the probability of a compound event is the fraction of outcomes in the sample space for which the compound event occurs. The Understand Compound Probability learning objective — based on CCSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research. This learning objective directly references 7.SP.C.8.a as written in the common core national math standards.

Concepts Covered

Compound probability relates the likelihood of two independent events occurring. Compound probability is equal to the probability of the first event multiplied by the probability of the second event. Use tree diagrams and tables for organizing the counting of outcomes for compound events. Use tables to approximate the empirical probability of events.
