Understanding Equivalent Fractions Math Games

5 games

In this series of games, your students will learn that two fractions are equivalent (equal) if they are the same size, or the same point on a number line.. The Understanding Equivalent Fractions learning objective — based on CCSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research. Concepts Covered

Fractions appearing on the same point on a number line are equal. Equal fractions are called equivalent fractions. Fractions of the same size but different numerators or denominators are equivalent fractions. Fractions that are the same size are equal. Fractions with different denominators can be equivalent if the same ratio exists between the two fractions. Understand that a denominator with a higher numerical value does not mean it has a higher value but means it is partitioned into more parts. There can be multiple equivalent fractions with the same value, not just 2.
