# Writing Expressions Math Games

In this series of games, your students will learn to apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions with rational coefficients. The Writing Expressions learning objective — based on CCSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research. This learning objective directly references 7.EE.A.1 as written in the common core national math standards.

## Concepts Covered

An expression is a mathematical phrase consisting of symbols, numbers, and operations . A general linear expression in the variable x is a sum of terms which are either rational numbers, or rational numbers times x.

Simplify linear expressions with rational coefficients. Use the distributive property to find equivalent expressions. Factor to find an equivalent expression using the distributive property. Use the associative property to find equivalent expressions. Use the commutative property to find equivalent expressions. Complex expressions including negative operations.
