Using Games To Introduce Activities, Review Material & Reinforce Lessons: Tracy Tomm & Veena Juroshek
Tracy Tomm
AKA "Lady Victoria Huntress"
Tracy Tomm is one of Legends of Learning’s most active teacher users. She implements the games in her classroom in a variety of ways, including as introduction activities, review of current and past material, and reinforcement of classroom lessons.
When asked about the impact that Legends of Learning has for her students, Tracy said, “My students will gladly answer review questions and read the content to help them score better if the material is presented in a game-friendly mode – something they struggle to do if I provide a paper/pencil or online assignment option.
“While some of the games are used just to review material from past years, I also incorporate the games into current lessons as much as possible. I am always amazed at the multiple ways my students and I find to connect Legends games to the classroom lessons! I love being able to extend our lessons and help students build important connections between science concepts and the real world!”
Thank you, Tracy, for being an everyday hero in your classroom!
Veena Juroshek
AKA "Mrs. J"
Veena Juroshek has been using Legends of Learning with her students for the past 2 school years. Ms. J uses the games in her classroom “CONSTANTLY! As review, as introduction, or reinforcement. It is just great.”
Legends of Learning has had a great impact on student learning, especially for those who struggle or become disengaged in the normal classroom setting. Veena stated, “Students are highly engaged in reading content which could be somewhat difficult or otherwise unengaging to them.” Ms. J is impressed at how quickly students learn new content when playing Legends of Learning games and loves the fact that they are able to practice concepts in an interactive manner, like “…how nucleotides line up.”
Keep rocking it, Mrs. J!
