New Feature Release: Introducing Video Lessons
You’re here because you love the curriculum aligned learning games at Legends of Learning. Learning through play is truly the best way to engage students, but sometimes you want to mix it up with simulations, assessments, and now, videos!
Today, we’re excited to announce that our Learning Universe is expanding to continue helping educators like you.
We’re leveling up our assignments by adding videos to our platform! We’ve always made sure our 2,000+ games are rigorous and teach a specific standard, but also incredibly fun and engaging for your students — you can expect the same with videos here at Legends of Learning.
We’ve always wanted to add videos to our platform, but we’ve never been able to find the right ones. Videos we saw online were either too boring, too long, or not aligned to a single standard. So we decided to make our own, or rather we decided to have our Legends, those engaging teachers who love to make videos, create new videos for the platform. Right now we have videos for 3-5th grade science created from our Legendary educators, but we’re adding videos to our other grades and subjects every day.
Like other content on our platform, you can expect the videos to be engaging, keep with high academic rigor, and tie directly to a single standard.
We’re always looking to build the best things for you, so we’re looking for your feedback. The videos will be rated like our mini-games. We hope to make better and better videos over time as we gather ratings feedback.
So how can you add these to your assignments?
Teachers can insert a video lesson from Legends of Learning, or insert a link to YouTube or Vimeo. After creating a draft assignment, you will have the option to add a video.
To see a complete breakdown check out our Knowledge Base article here.
As always, we believe the teacher is the superhero, the Legend of Learning, and we are here to help Legends with engaging tools for the classroom. Let us know what you think!

Teachers work so hard all day and, especially during the start of the school year which has consistently presented new challenges, we couldn’t think of a better way to reward a few lucky superhero teachers.
To enter, school teachers will need to have earned enough points inside Legends of Learning to enter into the random drawing. Each entry into the sweepstakes will use 50 Points with earning potential coming from having students join assignments, writing game reviews, having a teacher use your shared assignment, or referring a friend.

Top 10 Tips and Tricks for Teachers Using Legends of Learning
With over 2,000 games in the Learning Universe, the open world of Awakening, and the multitude of math facts in Math Basecamp — Legends of Learning is truly expansive. And we’re always adding new things and improving features every single day.
However, there are probably areas you haven’t explored or are wondering if there’s a better way to do something in Legends of Learning. We’re excited to share our top 10 tips and tricks that will either open your eyes to new things or help streamline processes that you’re already doing.
Top 10 Tips and Tricks for Teachers Using Legends of Learning
1. Archiving past students— To start the year with a clean slate, you can archive your past students and groups. Don’t worry, you can always restore past students and groups if needed later too.
2. Adding new students— Ready to add your new students to the Learning Universe? There are a few different ways to do this:
Students can create their own usernames when signing up to join an assignment that you have assigned. You can send them a direct link from the assignment you have created.
You can import students from your Google Classroom.
You can add students manually, with the “+ Student” button.
For teachers at partner schools and districts, your account may also be set up with a rostering integration through Canvas, Classlink, or Schoology.
3. Find the right games for your assignments by using filters — We have over 2,000 games in the Learning Universe, so we understand that it can be kind of overwhelming to find the right ones for your students. However, utilizing our filters can narrow your search easily. We recommend trying three of our filters first — grade level, iPad compatibility, and Spanish availability. You may not need the last two filters, but these specifics will help to pinpoint the games you may need for your students.
4. Add games to draft assignments — We’ve heard your feedback on this process and we’ve improved it. When you’ve found a game, you can add this game to your existing draft assignment and you can review and modify these activities in your assignment before you assign it out to students.
5. Assigning Awakening focus areas — You can assign different focus areas for students in Awakening based on the lessons you are teaching. Your students can still have fun and explore the wide world of Awakening while learning the concepts you set.
6. Adding videos to assignments — Along with the games and assessments in your assignments, you can add videos from Vimeo and YouTube too. Use the videos as a pre-teaching tool before students play a game! Your students can have a truly interactive, multi-media experience inside Legends of Learning.
7. Ensure students have unnecessary tabs closed — Are your students complaining that things are taking too long to load on Legends of Learning? Or are school devices letting you down? Encourage your students to close the other tabs they may have open outside of Legends of Learning. This should free up some bandwidth to speed things up.
8. Getting access to support when and where you need it— Do you have any questions, experiencing any technical issues, or want to pass along feedback to our team? You can always reach out to our best-in-class support team. You can email us at support@legendsoflearning.com, chat with us at the icon in the bottom right of your screen, or take a look at our Knowledge Base to see if we may have answered your question there. Also, if you’re wondering if Legends of Learning is currently having technical issues you can take a look at our status page — https://status.legendsoflearning.com/
9. Rate and review our games — We are always releasing new games, updating games, and removing those that are outdated or underperforming. Whether it’s 1 star or 5 stars, we rely on your feedback on these games to keep improving!
10. Create your own teacher avatar — You can create your very own teacher avatar in Awakening. You can express your individuality while in the town just like your students — Students aren’t the only ones that can have fun!
As Legends of Learning evolves daily, we encourage you to explore, implement, and share feedback with us, so we can continue building something that only continues your heroic journey as an educator. We hope that these top 10 tips and tricks offer an insider look into how you can navigate our legendary learning universe.

The Latest Teacher Features! (Spooky Edition) Oct 2021
Welcome to the Halloween edition of Features for Teachers!
We sincerely hope this October provides a cornucopia of treats for your classroom and so let’s get straight into the latest developments from Legends of Learning:
Using Teacher-Created Assignments
Want to know a “trick” that is actually a “treat?”
Many assignments created in Legends by teachers just like you are available for YOU to use! While they are not currently searchable within the platform, you can find them via a search engine like Google. From there, you can use them as-is or edit them before assigning (i.e. change the games, add an assessment, change the description, etc.).
Here’s how to find publicly-available assignments:
Go to Google (or other search engine like Bing or Yahoo!)
Search for your standard or topic like “Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures” (PROTIP: add “assignment on legends of learning” to your search query to be sure you’ll get great game assignments in your results) (for example, check this out)
Scroll Google search results to find the result starting with app.legendsoflearning.com.
Click on the link and check out the assignment landing page.
When signed in, you can push the assignment to your students or copy and edit the assignment first!
This makes teaching through games your class will love even easier!
Create Assignments on Your Mobile Device!
Get excited. We know you’re busy and you’re not always by your desk or at your computer. So, for when you need to create assignments from your mobile phone, we’ve made that easier for you!
We’ll continue to make more of the site mobile-friendly but, in the meantime, creating and viewing assignments on a mobile device get a big 👍 !
Coming Soon – A New Experience for Students
A brand-new Awakening experience is coming to your in-classroom assignment soon!
This improved Freeplay experience for students will replace the current “Play on Your Own” option, as well as the game students can play post-assignment. Don’t worry: what the new game adds in engagement and the collection of pets named “Beasties,” it keeps the same fun learning environment complete with custom Avatars.
We are very excited and will be sharing an exact release date with you soon!
Greetings and salutations! Rewards for Shared Assignments and Upvoting on Reviews in this blog update. Keep reading to learn more!
As we really start to dig into another year of new challenges (both difficult and exciting), Legends of Learning would like to give our utmost thanks to our heroic teachers!
We wouldn’t be here without you, nor would our next generation of scholars! With that said, we have an exciting batch of new teacher features, that we hope will help you light up your classrooms with learning and love!
Rewards for Shared Assignments
We recently released the ability for teachers to create their own assessment questions to be inserted into assignments. This gives you the ability to tailor assignments for specific situations like lessons you are teaching, end-of-year reviews, specific testing scenarios, and anything else you dream up!
As we strive to make assignment creation even more robust, why not share the love with other teachers? Every time another teacher uses one of your custom assignments with their class, you earn Legendary Points that will up your status on Legends of Learning. With those points, you’ll be able to redeem them for special merchandise, sweepstakes entries or use to gift your class ‘currency’ they can use in the Awakening game to get items for their Avatars like clothing, dance moves and pets (coming soon)!
Upvoting on Reviews
Found another teacher’s review on a game helpful? Now you can give it an upvote!
Reviews with the most upvotes will get sorted to the top! And soon we will also give rewards to teachers whose reviews get the most upvotes! Every thorough review helps other teachers find the right games faster and also helps our developer community improve their games based on your feedback!
What makes for a thorough review? Talk about:
General game instructions and how easy/difficult it was for your class (denote the grade)
Your take on the instructional or game content: how well did it resonate for your students?
How did your class enjoy the graphics, characters and the game, itself?
To see these more in-depth Game Reviews details, simply click on the reviews and stars from the game details.
Well, that’s it for our latest installment of Teacher Features! As you can see, our platform is dynamic and evolving, and we are striving to make our product, not only engaging for students, but also for our hero teachers as well! Keep the feedback coming and we hope you look forward, as much as we do, to all the new features (based on your feedback), coming in the future!
It would appear back to school time is upon us once again, and in celebration, we have some exciting new surprises for you and your students!
Create Your Own Assessments
One of the top requests we have consistently received from you, our legendary users, has been to be able to create and add your own questions to assignments. Well, we loved this idea so much, we decided to build it into our app!
We are starting with the basics: You can now create multiple-choice text assessments! Start by manually creating questions or by uploading a spreadsheet–assessments can host up to 99 questions, regardless of how they’re created. Add your own assessment to an assignment along with question games, simulations, or instructional games. Just like assignments, you’ll be able to see reporting on individual student answers in assignment results. Keep an eye out though, we will soon add even more assessment capabilities like questions with images and multi-select answers!
For more detailed information on creating assessments check out this article by our amazing partner success team:
We couldn’t be happier that you have chosen Legends of Learning games to use with your classes!
We are so thrilled, that we recently introduced Legendary Rewards so you can earn points for usage, which can be redeemed to reward your class, and yourself!
Now we are launching a new even bigger reward. It’s a monthly sweepstakes you can enter using Legendary Points! Prizes are updated regularly and there are many chances to win!
Coming Soon – Shared Assignments with Legendary Rewards!
Keep on the lookout! Very soon we will be releasing assignment templates that are much easier to share with other teachers! Not only that, you will earn Legendary Points every time another teacher uses an assignment template you created with their class!
Thank you, as always, for taking the time to check out our latest teacher features! We have some more big updates coming soon so please check in soon and stay subscribed to our monthly newsletter!
And always, if you have any questions or feedback, don’t hesitate to email: support@legendsoflearning.com
